Tarangire National Park Day Trip

PAMOJA SAFARIS

TRIP ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Tarangire National Park is known for its elephant herds, striking 1,000-year-old baobab trees, and diverse landscapes. Part of the popular northern safari circuit, it offers a more tranquil and less crowded experience than parks like the Serengeti, especially during the dry season (June-October) when wildlife congregates around the Tarangire River.

Tarangire is most famous for having one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Africa, with herds of up to 300 individuals in a single extended family unit. It is also one of the best places to spot lions, giraffes, wildebeest, monkeys, zebras, and numerous species of antelope. You may even spot the elusive leopards, cheetahs, and African wild dogs within the park’s 1,000+ square miles (2,850 square kilometers).

The park is a major birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 550 bird species recorded. Birding is best during the wet season (November-June), when migratory species arrive and local birds are in their breeding plumage.
Besides the amazing landscape and diversity of wildlife, Tarangire is also a great location for walking safaris, night game drives, and sunrise hot air balloon safaris.

NOTE: For all day trip itineraries, it is necessary to already be in Arusha City, our starting point, on the morning of departure. It is not possible to do excursions on the same day as your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), regardless of arrival time, due to the time required for arrivals and transfers.

your adventure

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After you have breakfast at your lodging, we’ll pick you up around 7:00 am and proceed with the 2.5-hour drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park.

Note: we can arrange a pick-up at any time, but the earlier we get to the park, the more active the animals will be.

SAFARI ADVENTURE AND PICNIC LUNCH

After proceeding with entry formalities and a bathroom stop, we’ll begin our safari adventure. Around noon, we will have lunch within the park at a designated picnic site, and after that, we will slowly make our way out of the park to begin our drive back to Arusha.

You’ll return to your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening.
