TRIP ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Journey from Tanzania to the misty mountains of Uganda for a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. After arriving in Entebbe, travel through the lush southwestern highlands to the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. At dawn, join expert rangers on a guided trek through the rainforest, listening to the sounds of the jungle as you search for a gorilla family. When you finally encounter these majestic creatures—silverbacks, mothers, and playful young—the quiet intimacy of the moment is unforgettable. End your journey in Rwanda, where scenic landscapes and rich history complete this extraordinary East African adventure.

YOUR ITINERARY

DAY 01

Tanzania to Entebbe, Uganda via Flight

You’ll be picked up from your lodging in Arusha and driven to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda (EBB, 2 hours). Note: some flights have stopovers in Nairobi, Kenya and/or Kigali, Rwanda on the way to Uganda, but you stay on the plane as they are short stopovers.

After arriving at Entebbe Airport, you’ll be picked up by your driver and taken to your lodging nearby for dinner and trip briefing with your guide (5 minutes).

DAY 02

Entebbe to Kisoro

After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Kisoro district—home of the mighty gorillas. You’ll proceed through the breathtaking mountain country, deep into the heart of south-western Uganda, close to the border with Rwanda. Lunch en route, as this will be a full day of driving. We’ll check you into your next lodge so you have plenty of time to unwind and get a good rest before your big day tomorrow. Dinner at the lodge.

DAY 03

Gorilla Trekking

Early morning wake up and light breakfast before you go to the ranger’s hut, get divided into groups and briefed about interacting with the gorillas, then trek to your appointed gorilla family. The trek will take from thirty minutes to three hours, each way (depending on the family that you are assigned and where they happen to be that morning). You will have one hour with the gorillas once you make contact, after which you will trek back out and head back to your lodge for a late lunch, rest, and then enjoy dinner.

DAY 09
To Kigali, Rwanda

You will depart for Rwanda on a scenic drive through the hills, dotted with coffee, tea, and banana plantations. After arriving at the border checkpoint, you will proceed to check out of Uganda and then proceed to the Rwandan side, where you will queue up for your arrival visas. Before checking into your hotel in Kigali, we will explore the history of Rwanda, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the genocide, after which we will visit the Rwanda Art Museum, housed in the former presidential palace. Farewell dinner at your hotel.

Departure

After breakfast, feel free to relax at your hotel until it’s time to transport you to Kigali Airport for your departure flight.
