YOUR 8-DAY ADVENTURE

We are so excited to welcome you to Tanzania. Your first stop is the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) after your international trip to Tanzania. Your guide will welcome you at the airport.  A sign with your name on a board will be ready for you to easily recognize us.

The transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Arusha will take around 1.5 hours.  Once you arrived we’ll help you check into your
lodge. You can then unpack, rest and get ready for our delicious dinner.

Following your transfer from the airport to our lodge, you’ll receive a warm welcome in Arusha before our guide assists with check-in and brings you to your rooms.

As evening descends, we’ll gather for a delightful dinner, setting the stage for our first trip briefing. Your guide will unveil the thrilling adventures that await us in the days ahead. Savor the meal, but don’t overlook the importance of rest. After all, as the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm—or in our case, the elephants. That’s why we kick off our safari bright and early the following morning.

Time to start the adventure! Following an early breakfast, we’ll leave at 8:00 am for a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. If it weren’t for the nearby Serengeti, Tarangire would be world-famous in its own right—it’s huge, full of animals (especially elephants), and full of breathtaking landscapes. We’ll do a game drive and then stop for a hot lunch around noon. We’ll then have an additional afternoon drive before driving two hours to our lodging in Karatu town.

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set our sights towards the Serengeti, journeying up and over the caldera rim of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. Along the way, we’ll pause to soak in the breathtaking views.

The name Ngorongoro derives from the echoing sound of a cowbell, a nod to its historical use as a grazing area for Maasai cattle. Try saying “ngoro ngoro” three times fast, and you’ll understand the origins of its name.

Following a delightful picnic lunch at the entrance gate of Serengeti National Park, we’ll embark on our first game drive across the iconic plains, heading towards your lodge. Keep your eyes peeled for an array of wildlife, from graceful antelopes and zebras to majestic lions.

Our team remains in constant communication with park rangers, ensuring we’re always in the loop about any special sightings nearby. With this network in place, you can rest assured you won’t miss out on any safari highlights. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at Moyo Tented Camp, a luxurious safari retreat nestled in the heart of the Serengeti. Take your time to freshen up and settle in before we reconvene for a delicious dinner at 7:30 pm. This camp will be our home for the next three nights, so make yourself comfortable and get ready for an unforgettable safari experience!

Days 4 & 5 are our two full days in the Serengeti, and comprise the heart of your trip. Here’s what your daily itinerary will look like:

MORNING: We’ll start the day with a full-spread buffet breakfast at Moyo Tented Camp, including offerings such as eggs, sausage, beans, vegetables, bread and pastries, tea, and coffee. After eating our fill, we head out for our game drive in the Serengeti. The possibilities each day are endless, but you’re guaranteed to witness the animals that you’ve come to Tanzania to see. Lions hunting prey, herds of elephants wandering through grazing lands, wildebeest and zebras having a mid-morning drink at a watering hole, or giraffes sauntering by while nibbling the tops of the iconic acacia trees.

Each day, we can head back to the camp to have a buffet lunch followed by a two- to three-hour siesta, as this is when the animals are the least active, huddling in the shade and sleeping through the harsh mid-day sun. However, we always have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch in the field, which allows us maximum safari time.

Our lunch spot will usually have restrooms nearby or on the way, and you’ll be able to relax knowing that our expert guides are closely monitoring the movements of any animals nearby to ensure your safety at all times while we enjoy our mid-day meal surrounded by natural beauty.

We’ll generally finish up our safari game drives in the early evening, although if we run into something interesting it’s possible that we’ll be out a bit later. Regardless, we need to be back at the lodge by nightfall, as driving in the park at night is not permitted.

We’ll get back with enough time for you to rest up and take a shower before dinner, which is usually served between 7:30-8:30 pm. If you have time, you’re welcome to grab a drink in the lounge area.

Dinners usually consist of a buffet, with a dessert following soon thereafter. Post-dinner, feel free to hang out a bit more or to head back to your tent for the night.

At Moyo Tented Camp, developed by a seasoned safari guide with years of leading experience, every night is a laid-back affair. Whether you prefer relaxing with a drink by the bonfire as the Serengeti bids farewell to the day or unwinding in your tent with a good book post-shower, the choice is yours.

Tanzanian cuisine tends towards simplicity, so here, we cater to western tastes with hearty buffets expertly prepared by our chefs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Rest easy knowing a comfortable night’s sleep awaits you. Each room features a full-size queen bed or two doubles, equipped with cozy mattresses, clean sheets, warm blankets, and soft pillows—ensuring you wake up refreshed and ready for the adventures of tomorrow.

We’ll make an early departure as we head towards the 12 mile/20 km wide Ngorongoro Crater. It’ll be a fun morning driving through the extinct volcano caldera, watching the animals as they go about their day.

Lunch will be a picnic in a designated area, right in the heart of the crater. After that, we slowly make our way up and out of the crater to enjoy a relaxing evening at our lodge.

After a late morning breakfast at our lodge we’ll make our way towards Arusha, making a stop at a souvenir crafts shop (if desired), after which we’ll visit a local Maasai tribe.

You may have a chance to see their traditional dancing, but even more memorable is the simple act of learning about their culture and way of life. We cap the day off with a farewell dinner back at your lodge in Arusha.

Unless you’re opting for one of our wonderful post-trip add-ons (see below), we will say “see you next time” today.

Take as long as you like to relax and enjoy your surroundings before we will bring you to the airport in preparation for your flight home (3-4 hours before your flight).

Thank you for enjoying the beauty of Tanzania with us – until next time!
