YOUR 6-DAY ADVENTURE

It’s our pleasure to welcome you to Tanzania. Your first stop is the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) after your international trip to Tanzania. Your guide will welcome you at the airport, holding a sign with your name on it for you to easily recognize us.

The transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Arusha will take around 1.5 hours.  Once you arrived we’ll help you check into your
lodge. You can then unpack, rest and get ready for our delicious dinner.

Welcome to Tanzania! Following a 1.5-hour transfer from the airport to Arusha, we’ll assist you with checking into your lodge, allowing you to settle in and unwind before dinner.

Later, we’ll gather for a delightful meal together, followed by our initial trip briefing where we’ll delve into the exciting adventures awaiting us in the days ahead. Remember to enjoy your meal, but also prioritize rest—our safari kicks off bright and early the next morning!

Time to properly start our adventure! After an early breakfast, we’ll leave at 8:00 am for a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park.

If it weren’t for the nearby Serengeti, Tarangire would be world-famous in its own right—it’s huge, full of animals (especially elephants), and full of breathtaking landscapes. We’ll do a game drive and then stop for lunch around noon. In the afternoon we’ll have an additional drive before retiring to our lodge in Karatu.

After breakfast, we’ll set off towards the Serengeti, passing through the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and pausing to admire the breathtaking view.

Following a picnic lunch at the Serengeti park gate, we’ll embark on our first game drive through the renowned Serengeti, heading towards our lodge. Along the way, expect to encounter a variety of wildlife, including antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, and possibly even lions.

Our team stays connected with park personnel via radio, ensuring we’re always aware of any noteworthy sightings nearby. Thanks to this communication, you won’t miss out on any special safari moments. Late in the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Tanzania Bush Camp, a luxurious safari camp nestled in the heart of the Serengetai. You’ll have plenty of time to freshen up and unpack before we gather for dinner around 7:30 pm.

Days 3 & 4 are our two full days in the Serengeti, and comprise the heart of your trip. Here’s what your daily itinerary will look like:

MORNING: We begin the day with a generous buffet breakfast at Moyo Tented Camp, offering a variety of options such as eggs, sausage, beans, vegetables, bread, pastries, cereal, tea, and coffee. After satisfying our appetites, we set out for our first morning game drive in the Serengeti.

Each day brings endless possibilities, but you’re guaranteed to witness a plethora of animals engaged in their natural behaviors. Imagine lions on the prowl, herds of elephants grazing across the plains, or zebras quenching their thirst at a watering hole in the mid-morning sun.

Each day, we’ll return to camp for a buffet lunch followed by a two- to three-hour siesta. During this time, animals tend to be less active, seeking shade and sheltering from the mid-day sun.

However, if we’ve received word of exciting sightings elsewhere, we’ll pack a picnic lunch in the morning and venture deeper into the park to explore. Rest assured, our lunch spots always have restrooms nearby, and our expert guides diligently monitor nearby animal activity to ensure your safety at all times.

Our safari game drives usually wind down in the early evening, but if we stumble upon something captivating, we might extend our time a bit. Nevertheless, we always aim to return to the lodge before nightfall, as driving in the park after dark isn’t allowed.

Once we’re back, you’ll have plenty of time to unwind and freshen up with a shower before dinner, typically served between 7:30-8:30 pm. If you fancy, feel free to grab a drink in the lounge area beforehand.

Dinner usually offers a buffet spread, with a tempting dessert to follow. After dinner, you’re welcome to hang around a bit longer or retreat to your tent for the night.

Moyo Tented Camp, started by a former expert safari guide that had been leading groups for many years, is a luxurious and perfect way to end each evening. Chill out with a few drinks around the bonfire as the sun sets on a perfect Serengeti day, or read a book in your tent after taking a warm shower to rinse off the road dust—it’s up to you.

Traditional Tanzanian cuisine is very basic, so the food served here is geared towards western palates, with high-quality buffets prepared by expert chefs available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

And no need to worry about getting a proper night’s sleep—a full-size queen bed (or two) is in every room, complete with a comfortable mattress, sheets, blanket, and pillows.

After breakfast, we’ll make an early departure from the Serengeti plains as we head towards the 12 mile/20 km-wide Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautifully scenic places in all of Tanzania.

Formed by the collapse of a (now extinct) volcano 2.5 million years ago, Ngorongoro is now the largest unflooded caldera in the world. Due to the rich volcanic soil, it was once premiere grazing land for Maasai cattle. In fact, its name comes from the Maasai onomatopoeic word of the jingle of cowbells (“ngoro ngoro”). However, since 2009 all pastoral activity has been stopped by the government, allowing for the entire area to be naturally populated by wild animals such as zebras, giraffes, lions, elephants, cape buffalo, rhinos, warthogs, hippos, and many species of birds.

It’ll be an exciting morning drive through the floor of the caldera, as we’ll be able to get up close to many of the animals, which are used to humans driving around the crater floor over the past decades. We’ll slowly make our way in a circular fashion around the edges of the volcanic ridge, eventually coming to the designated picnic area where we’ll take an hour or so for lunch. After that, we slowly make our way up and out of the crater to enjoy a relaxing evening at our lodge in Karatu.

Following a delicious breakfast at our lodge in the late morning, we’ll set our course towards Arusha. Unless you’re opting for one of our wonderful post-trip add-ons (see below), we will say “see you later” today.

Take as long as you like to relax and enjoy your surroundings before we will bring you to the airport in preparation for your flight home (3-4 hours before your flight).

Thank you for enjoying the beauty of Tanzania with us – until next time!
