TRIP ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Your adventure starts with three days in Tarangire National Park, where you’ll be greeted by elephants and ancient baobabs. The journey continues to the Serengeti, where four days of safari await, offering a chance to witness the great migration from your luxury campsite. The trip peaks with a day in the Ngorongoro Crater, offering unparalleled wildlife viewing. Expert guides ensure you spot the best of Africa’s wildlife, and visits to local tribes provide cultural insights, making your safari a comprehensive exploration of Tanzania’s natural and cultural landscapes​​.

YOUR 10 DAY ADVENTURE

DAY 01

ARRIVAL IN TANZANIA

Arrive in Tanzania via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where a Pamoja Safaris representative will be waiting outside to greet and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha City (1.5 hours).

Upon arrival, we’ll check you in and arrange a welcome dinner and trip orientation with your trip leader. (If your flight arrives late at night, we’ll schedule your trip orientation for the next morning or evening so that you have time to get a good night’s rest this evening.)

DAY 02
TOUR OF ARUSHA
This morning we will set off on a tour of Arusha to see the landscape, meet its citizens, and visit a few NGOs providing opportunities to the less fortunate (including a water filter maker, albino children’s home, and craft center for those with disabilities). We’ll have a hot lunch at the Shanga Craft Centre, then visit a local market before arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner at your hotel.

DAY 03
ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Transfer to Tarangire National Park after breakfast (2.5 hours), enjoy a full day of game drives with a hot lunch around 13:00, and have dinner and overnight in the park. Tarangire National Park, one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in northern Tanzania, is famous for its large elephant population and iconic baobab trees. As we are staying in the park overnight, we’ll have ample time to explore the area, including areas where the day-trippers don’t have the ability to reach.

DAY 04
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK TO KARATU TOWN
Continue your game drive through Tarangire NP, have a hot lunch in the park, and then head to Karatu Town (2 hours). Along the way, we’ll have the opportunity to stop at a local Maasai tribe family’s boma (family village), where we’ll be able to learn about their way of life and culture before proceeding to our lodge to rest up before dinner.

DAY 05
Karatu Town to Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu Town
Head out after an early breakfast to explore Ngorongoro Crater (1 hour), an extinct 12×12-mile volcano caldera that is teeming with wildlife. We’ll spend all afternoon inside the crater, with a picnic lunch around 1:00 p.m. Later in the afternoon, we will head back towards our lodging in Karatu, allowing plenty of time for relaxation before dinner.

DAY 06
Karatu Adventures & Cultural Immersion
Today, we will start off after breakfast with a waterfall hike to where elephants carve the hillsides with their tusks, looking for minerals. After that, we will grab lunch and proceed on a cultural tour of Karatu, quite different from Arusha, which you saw on your first full day. Options include visiting coffee plantations, brickmaker kilns, village walks, craft workshops, school and NGO visits, and more. Dinner back at your lodge.

DAY 07
Karatu Town to Central Serengeti NP
Post-breakfast, we will head towards Serengeti National Park, home to the Great Migration (3 hours over mostly unpaved roads). Upon arriving at the gate, we will stop for entry formalities and a picnic lunch, then we’ll make our way towards your luxury tented camp, stopping to see any animals that present themselves to us on the way. We’ll arrive just before dusk, and you’ll be shown around the grounds of your new home for the next three nights. Dinner at the camp.

DAY 08
Optional Hot Air Balloon Sunrise Safari + Safari
Early morning wake-up to be collected for your sunrise hot air balloon safari around 5:00 am. You’ll board just after 6:00 am and have around one hour in the air to witness the spectacular landscapes and see animals from the air. After landing, you’ll be picked up by the balloon crew members and taken to a special spot where you’ll be served a full breakfast in the middle of the park. You’ll be reunited with your Pamoja guide around 10:00 am. After that, we will drive around the northern area of the park to get a chance to view the Great Wildebeest Migration. Overnight and dinner will be back at your lodge in the northern plains.

DAY 09
Central Serengeti National Park
Today, we will head up into the central area of the park to get a chance to view the Great Wildebeest Migration. Along the way, we will be stopping whenever we view any notable wildlife, enjoying a picnic lunch, and eventually arriving in the north in the late afternoon. Overnight and dinner will be back at your lodge in the northern plains.

DAY 10
FLIGHT FROM SERENGETI NP TO ARUSHA, TRANSFER TO JRO
We’ll set off for a safari after packing up and having breakfast, eventually making our way toward the Kogatende Airstrip in the late morning or afternoon. There, we will board a light aircraft that will transport us approximately an hour to Arusha Airport (ARK), where you’ll be picked up and taken to lunch + shopping opportunities en route to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home.

Ranger-Guided Rhino Experience

Search for the elusive northern black rhinos that inhabit the lesser-traveled areas of Serengeti National Park alongside a team of park rangers. By far the toughest animal to spot on any Tanzanian safari, the rhinoceros is known for being difficult to locate as well as notoriously skittish around humans. Our park ranger friends, trained to observe and protect the rhinos 24/7/365, will guide us to the closest population of rhinos so that we can observe them safely in their natural habitat.
