Kilimanjaro Routes

PAMOJA SAFARIS

Choose Your Path to Africa’s Roof

Standing above the clouds at 5,895 m, Mount Kilimanjaro invites you on a journey of transformation — and at Pamoja Safaris we believe the route you choose is as integral to that journey as the summit itself. From the gentle slopes of the marangu route to the longer, less-traveled circuit trails, our carefully selected itineraries let you tailor ascent pace, scenery, and style to match your personal goals. Whether you’re seeking the most scenic traverse, a strong summit success rate, or a quieter wilderness experience, we have a route that fits your vision — and a team committed to guiding you safely and proudly to Africa’s roof.
The Lemosho Route is known as the longest, most picturesque, least traversed of the seven paths up Kilimanjaro and it’s our guests’ unanimous favorite
Northern Circuit Route
The Northern Circuit route is the longest path on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a unique and less-traveled route that wraps around the quieter northern slopes.
Marangu Route
The Marangu route, often referred to as the “Coca-Cola” route, is one of the oldest and most popular paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route, is one of the most popular and scenic pathways to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Rongai Route
The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border and it’s considered one of the easier paths.
Shira Route
The Shira route, similar to Lemosho in its scenic beauty, approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west and it requires trekkers to be somewhat acclimatized.
Jozani Forest Reserve
Umbwe Route
The Umbwe route is known as one of the shortest, steepest, and most direct routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
